One teenage boy was discovered deceased only a few days following being wrongly blamed of stealing the ashes of a deceased infant during a break-in, an inquest has learned.

Tragic Discovery

Kai Lloyd's parents discovered his remains in his bedroom at his Flintshire residence on November 19th, 2021.

Untrue Allegations Start

The inquest learned how his mother got a message on 8 November 2021 via online platforms, from a individual asking if Kai was her child. The message stated: "Tell him thanks for breaking into my apartment."

In a statement read to the court, Lisa Lloyd said the individual had been in the media, claiming her baby's remains had been taken in a burglary - a claim which was false.

Law Enforcement Investigation

An official inquiry from police later determined the alleged break-in victim had "provided false information" and "evidence shows that the property was not stolen in the first place".

Media reports about the supposed stolen remains attracted social media comments, and although the teenager was not named in the messages, his parent said individuals "knew it was him".

The "online posts were really distressing", she stated.

Emotional Health Impact

She added that Kai had been diagnosed with moderate ADHD, and as part of that disorder, other peoples' views genuinely were important to him.

"This must have affected him severely," she said, "particularly when this was not true".

Kai was arrested at his residence, but nothing was found. He was transported to a law enforcement facility and later released pending further inquiry.

Police said they would be in touch, the hearing learned, but had not reached out to the relatives by the time of his passing.

Isolation and Worry

His mother said Kai "withdrew into himself" after the arrest and "would keep asking me whether I had heard anything from the authorities", because his ADHD meant sometimes "certain periods could seem like days".

When she talked to him about the alleged burglary, she said her child told her he had gone into the house because the woman who resided there had said he could use the bathroom whenever he wanted, but refuted taking anything.

Online Harassment

In a joint statement between her and her husband, Mrs Lloyd said her child was being bullied online after the accusations.

The inquest learned that a young adult urged the teenager to end his life.

She had no worries on the night before he passed away, explaining how she had listened to him "chuckling and teasing".

She portrayed him as a "compassionate, loving" young man, and said her "relatives is completely devastated".

He had been "obviously concealing his concerns", she stated, noting that he could not bear to have anybody "think bad of him".

Educational Response

The hearing received testimony from school personnel at Connah's Quay High School.

On November 8th, she "overheard some boys discussing that Kai had been arrested and that was the first I heard".

"He informed me... he'd done nothing wrong," she added.

After the conversation, the educator said she called Kai's family landline and left a message saying she had communicated to Kai about the accusations.

The court learned his family said they never receive that message.

Formal Conclusion

Lead investigator informed the hearing he would await documents regarding what enhancements had been made to handling individuals with the condition, before determining whether he should make a prevention of future fatalities report.

Delivering a narrative conclusion, he stated: "Around 8 November 2021, unsubstantiated allegations were made against Kai Benjamin Lloyd, a 14-year-old child.

"Likely falsehoods were afterwards exaggerated and exaggerated through the medium of online networks.

"On November 11th, he was interviewed by the police and after his questioning he was freed while inquiries continued."

The official determined: "Exists no evidence that the actions or omissions of any organization led to or added to his passing and although it was the result of a self-inflicted act it is not possible to discern his intent."
