The Three Lions Recall Saka While Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden & Grealish Are Omitted

Bukayo Saka in action

The Arsenal forward has netted a dozen goals in 44 caps for England.

England have recalled the Arsenal winger for upcoming fixtures against Latvia and Wales, but there is no place for Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden or Jack Grealish.

Gunners attacker Bukayo Saka missed the previous qualifier successes over Andorra and Serbia with a hamstring issue.

The 24-year-old made a comeback for his club and found the net in their 2-0 win over the Greek side midweek.

The England international comes in for club colleague Noni Madueke, who is out of action until November with a knee problem.

England meet Wales in a warm-up match at Wembley on Thursday prior to a qualifying match in Riga on October 14.

If England win against Latvia, they will need a just two more points from their final two matches against Albania and Serbia in the next month to qualify for the World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the United States.

Bayer Leverkusen defender Quansah comes in for Newcastle's Livramento, who is sidelined for two months after suffering a knee injury against Arsenal last weekend.

Anderson and Djed Spence, who earned their first England call-ups last month, retain their places. Loftus-Cheek also keeps his spot, despite the recovery of Wharton.

Saka has only played a single match for the manager since taking over as England manager, due to fitness and hamstring injuries.

Bellingham was absent from the last England international camp as he was rehabilitating after a shoulder operation and has only made one start for Real Madrid after coming back to fitness.

The Manchester City player was left out from the coach’s previous selection after a loss of form and has been unable to force his way back, despite a impressive beginning to the season with Manchester City.

The forward also misses out in spite of a revival in form on loan at Everton. He has not featured for England since last year.

'Focus on omissions over inclusions'

Thomas Tuchel's new selection brings scrutiny on those the head coach has omitted rather than the included names.

Bellingham’s exclusion may cause surprise but the coach believes there is no rush to bring back the Real Madrid star.

City’s Foden and loanee Jack Grealish have both performed well at the start of the campaign.

Those who Tuchel utilised in England's qualifying victories versus Serbia and Andorra merit the reward of continuity.

It will bring regret that Arsenal's Noni Madueke is not included due to a fitness issue.

Anderson has settled well at England senior level.

The England boss is a fan of the attacker, especially, and also the City star.

If there is one surprise, it comes in the exclusion of Palace’s Adam Wharton.

Bellingham, naturally, will be required further down the line.
