New England Match Best Winning Streak From Brady Years with Triumph Over New York Jets
First-year player Henderson has tallied five scores this season
The New England Patriots matched their longest winning run from the Tom Brady period as they defeated AFC East opponents the Jets by 13 points in professional football
First-year standout Henderson shone brightly with three touchdowns as the New England squad secured an eighth consecutive victory for the first time since star signal-caller Brady's final season with the franchise in 2019
QB Drake Maye threw for 281 yards and a score, connecting on 25 out of 34 attempts
Victory bolsters the New England's advantage at the top of the division as they moved to a 9-2 record, with the New York at the foot after dropping to two victories and eight defeats
The visitors had taken the lead at their home field with QB Fields rushing for a five-yard touchdown to conclude the Jets' initial series
But the New England responded in the second period as the rookie ran in two seven-yard TDs before the running back hauled in a throw from Maye at the back of the end zone in the middle of the third quarter to push the score to 21 to 7
"That was a crucial moment for him stepping up, and it's been great for him to keep gaining experience," the quarterback said of the rookie. "He aims to be excellent."
Justin Fields threw to John Metchie in the latter part of the third period to narrow the deficit for the visitors but Borregales converted a two kicks in the fourth quarter as the home side sealed the triumph
