Helicopter Twirls Out of Control into Palm Groves at Frequented California Shoreline
A helicopter soaring over a crowded southern California coastline unexpectedly began spiraling uncontrollably, ultimately dropping height and smashing into a cluster of palm trees as onlookers looked on.
Videos posted on the internet depict the helicopter beginning to twirl above the shoreline then falling towards the border of the shore, where it ends up lodged amidst palms and a staircase close to the coastal road.
Rescue Operation Information
Local firefighters said five people were transported to a medical facility including two individuals who were in the chopper and were “extracted safely from the crash site” after the incident on the weekend.
Three persons on the pavement were hurt. Details on their condition were not immediately available.
The reason for the accident was not yet disclosed.
