Knowing full well he was destined for Hell, he made contact with the afterlife in advance to obtain a powerful role in Hell. The charismatic leader, who leads the cannibal faction in Hell, promised Alastor he would become “the most powerful Sinner in Hell” in exchange for his eternal spirit.

This raises the question: How is this character sufficiently strong to raise Alastor above every other Sinner Demons?

“The agreement between Rosie and Alastor is the first stepping stone in a much bigger story that encompasses so much, moving into the third season,” the creator explains. “Obviously that is an excellent question: How is she so strong? The solution might be various factors, but the answer is in season 3. I am thrilled for fans to see it.”

There’s no telling how long viewers will have to wait for Hazbin Hotel’s next season. The studios have approved seasons 3 and 4, but the showrunner frequently notes that animated production is a time-consuming endeavor, and later seasons have no release dates yet. Still, she says withholding on specific information is an important part of maintaining season 2’s focus in the right places.

Mysteries Resolved in The Next Season

The creator promises that the upcoming season will tackle the questions followers have been asking, like why the cannibal leader commanded Alastor to disappear for a seven-year period, which diminished his power in the infernal realm.

“The whole seven years, and the pacts these individuals are making, and everything — it's feeding into a bigger narrative,” she says.

In the meantime, the Rosie/Alastor backstory episode provides a further look into how the main characters of Sinner Demons appeared as as humans, the second after viewing Sir Pentious’ historical human form in the second episode. She explains that significant consideration was put into the visual creation of these forms.

“The human versions of these personas hold so much weight,” she says. “They range from appearing really different from their infernal version to seeming very similar. With Pentious, the first one we see, there was a little bit of a debate internally between choosing something that represents the personality, as opposed to selecting an option that's very time-period accurate. We leaned toward making something that just felt like it was him.”

She mentions the biggest debate over the mortal look of Pentious was his lengthy locks: “We were like, ‘Nobody really had long hair like that in Victorian-era London.’ But at the same time, we believe the silhouette is so important, and we also just thought he appeared attractive. We were like, ‘This just feels right.’ We kind of gave the excuse that he's a hermit, so he just allowed his hair to lengthen. So there is always a solution. As we design the human versions of these characters […] it is a very enjoyable process to explore and determine. I am looking forward for people to view additional of the appearances of the human versions.”
